He graduated from Bowdoin College. Rev. Bailey married his first wife, Jane T. Damon, in Lynn, Massachusetts, on May 17, 1840. She was the mother of Giles O. Bailey. Jane Bailey died in Brunswick September 13, 1842, and was buried at Pine Grove Cemetery, Brunswick.
He married his second wife, Mrs. Sarah Murphy, in Alstead, NH, Dec. 7, 1844. She was the mother of Caroline and George Whitman Bailey. She must have died between March 20, 1848, when her son George Whitman Bailey was born in Brunswick, and 1850, when her husband remarried.
Rev. Bailey married his third wife, Mercy H. Bassett, in Dexter, Maine, Dec. 5, 1850. They lived in Gardiner, Maine in 1860. Mercy was the mother of William Lysander Bailey and Edwin C. Bailey. Rev. Bailey and wife Mercy moved to Reading, PA, where each died, 30 years apart. Their remains were brought home to Maine.
