He was born in East Liverpool on October 4, 1934, the only child of the late Clinton and Jessie Mayfield White. He was educated in the East Liverpool school system, and had sold insurance for National Life and Accident for many years. Until an injury limited his service, he had also been a firefighter for the City of East Liverpool.
Lee was probably best known as one with a lifetime appreciation for music, having been self-employed as a musical instrument repairman for countless local band students and musicians. A jazz guitarist, he had performed professionally around the area as the front man for "The Echos", but his favorite "gigs" involved playing with his own family members.
He and Mary were members of Campground Community Church. Lee was happiest when he was busy tinkering – mostly on antique cars or motorcycles or anything that moved.
In addition to Mary, whom he married on June 26, 1954, Lee is survived by five daughters and two sons: Mary Lee Ludwig and her husband, Lesley, of East Liverpool; Melanie Balser and her husband, John, also of East Liverpool; Michelle Miller and her husband, Jason, of Pittsburgh; Traci Davis and her husband, Bret, of East Liverpool; Billie Jo Smith and her husband, Rob, also of East Liverpool; Mitchell White and his wife, Cheryl, of St. Charles, MO; and Benjamin White and his wife, Candi, of East Liverpool.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and his canine companion, Opie.
