Danny M. Caldwell was born on October 30, 1930 in West Union, Iowa, the son of Daniel Maurice and Louise (Lawson) Caldwell. He was raised and educated in the Vinton school district, graduating from Vinton High School with the class of 1949.
Following high school, Dan was employed at Bell Telephone Company in Waterloo, Iowa.
Dan honorably served his country by enlisting in the Marine Corp during the Korean War.
He was united in marriage to the love of his life Betty Varnum on June 6, 1951 in Oceanside, California. Nine days later he deployed to the front lines of Korea. They had six children; Steve, Jayne, Kurt, Brent, Cris and Ann Louise.
During his lifetime Dan was called to pastor three churches in California, Virginia and Iowa, and he and Betty also started and operated Minuteman Copy Center in both Roanoke, Virginia and Marshalltown, Iowa. Dan had a strong love for the Lord, his family and traveling with his wife.
Funeral services for Dan will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the former Liberty Baptist Church building located downtown at 9 North 5th Ave in Marshalltown, Iowa with Pastor Randy Mason officiating. He will be laid to rest at Bear Creek Cemetery in Vinton, Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be directed in Dan’s name to the missionary fund of Liberty Baptist Church.
