Beattyville - James Deaton, 83, of Tallega, died at his home after he suffered an apparent heart attack. He was a native of Lee County and a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Emma Deaton; two sons, Chester Deaton, Fillmore, and Henry Deaton, Pontiac, Mich.; four daughters, Mrs. Chelsea Drake, Tallega; Mrs. Minnie Price and Mrs. Tina Moore, Oxford, Mich. andMrs. Willena Deaton, Morningview; a brother, Johnny Deaton, Campton; 38 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at the Wide Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Clifford Richards and the Rev. William Moore. Burial with Masonic rites will be in the Deaton Cemetery. The body was removed from the Newnam Funeral Home to the residence of Mrs. Chelsea Drake at Tallega.
