Margie Carol Whetsel, 66, of Abilene, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at an Abilene medical center.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Elmcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Chuck Reynolds and Rev. H.B. Terry,Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Drummond Cemetery directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday morning at Elmcrest Baptist Church.
Born in O'Brien, Texas, on December 5, 1938, she was the daughter of Bernie and J. P. Hodges, and lived most all of her life in the Abilene area. She married Daniel L. Whetsel in Abilene on July 1, 1960. Mrs. Whetsel was a homemaker and a member of Elmcrest Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Dan Whetsel of Abilene; a son, Greg Whetsel and wife, Deborah, of Bastrop, Texas; and a grandson, Stephen Whetsel.
Pallbearers will be Burl Harris, Austin Keefer, Marion Simpson, Leroy Mason, Dale Morrison, Marcy Grun, Dana Harper, and Rick Hargrove.
