Mr. Joe Burnard Derington, age 85, died Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at Sarasota Nursing and Rehab Center in Sarasota, Florida.

Funeral Service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Murphy Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Powell officiating. Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday at the funeral home until funeral time at 1:00 P.M.

Mr. Derington is survived by his children, Melody (Gregory) Derington Genson of Sarasota, Florida and David (Betty) Derington of Cleveland, Tennessee; one sister, Mrs. Ruby (Wayne) Tuck of Martin; five grandchildren, Patricia Jean Derington, William Derington, Victoria Melody Derington, Joseph David Derington and Anna Cecelia Genson. One great-granddaughter, Arianna, survives.

He formerly worked as a Staff Manager for Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company. He was a 1950 graduate of Martin High School and a member of First Baptist Church in Martin.

Mr. Derington was preceded in death by his son, William Derington; his parents, William (Ottie) Derington and Lela Lasater Derington.
