Charles E."Pooch"Ashcraft,74,of Pine Bluff,died Sunday at his home.He was born Oct.11,1931,in Dermott,a son of the late Monroe Ashcraft and Rosie Bell Spakes Ashcraft.He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Gaylord Paper Mill before his retirement.He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and Northside Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, M.H. Ashcraft, Lawrence Ashcraft, Odis Ashcraft and Harold Ashcraft.
Survivors include his wife,Margaret Studdard Ashcraft;one son, Mike Ashcraft of Pine Bluff;two daughters,Kathy Harlow of Pine Bluff and Donna Carter of Athens,La;five brothers,Benny Ashcraft,George Ashcraft,Bob Ashcraft and Thomas Ashcraft all of Pine Bluff,and James Ashcraft of Star City;one sister,Charlene Moring of Pine Bluff;five grandchildren;and two great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be at 2p.m. Wednesday at Buie Funeral Home of Rison with Johnnie Brewster officiating.Burial will be in Prosperity Cemetery.Visitation will be from 6 to 8p.m. today at the funeral home.
