Robert W. "Bob" Briggs, 95, of Granite City, Ill., born Jan. 16, 1920, in Granite City, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, in Granite City, Ill.Bob was a World War II veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corp. He was a staff sergeant having served in the Philippines and Okinawa, Japan.
He was a faithful member of Nameoki United Methodist Church in Granite City, Ill. Bob had retired from TWA as a manager after many years of dedicated service. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and was an avid Cardinals Baseball fan. Bob's greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Evelyn, nee Cross, Briggs, whom he married on Feb. 7, 1941, in St. Charles, Mo., and who died Jan. 21, 2010; parents, Robert J. and Alyce, nee Ward, Briggs; brothers, Randall and Richard Briggs; grandson, Larry Briggs Jr.; great-grandson, Theron Briggs; and two sons-in-law, Monte Kessler and Jim Little.
He is survived by his loving children, Donna Kessler of Granite City, Ill., Larry (Iva) Briggs Sr. Collinsville, Ill., Ginger Little of Edwardsville, Ill., and Barry (Carol Christofferson) Briggs of Aurora, Ill.; proud grandfather to 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
