Troy - Martin Brewer, age 89, of Lake Tillery, son of Noah Brewer and Nettie Jarrell Brewer, died Thursday, December 24, 2015, after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 26, 2015, at New Covenant Church, 199 Alexander Road, Troy, with the Rev. Carl Burrow officiating. Interment will follow in Brown’s Chapel Christian Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 1:00 pm – l:45 pm.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Brown Barnes Brewer; sister, Burline Brewer of Columbia, SC; daughter, Sylvia Brewer Scholl (Joe) of Raleigh; sons, Harold Brewer (Cindy) of Woodrun, Darrell Brewer (Fannie) of Laurinburg, Keith Brewer (Pam) of Norwood; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Delilah Campbell Brewer. He served honorably in the US Army in WWII in the Pacific Theater. He worked in textiles and textile management for over fifty years in Biscoe and Laurinburg, NC.

A deeply religious man, Martin found time to serve as a lay minister at various churches including a church near Spies,NC and was assistant pastor at East Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church for nine years. He enjoyed water sports on Lake Tillery where he spent many pleasurable hours with his children and grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Covenant Church, 199 Alexander Road, Troy, NC 27371.
