Ginny was born Aug. 26, 1934 in Friendsville, Md., and was the daughter of the late William and Laura Shoemaker.
She graduated from Frostburg State College with a B.S. in Elementary Education in 1956 and taught elementary school in Cumberland, Md. for two years. It was at college that she met her future husband, Joseph E. Barnard, as they were both studying to be teachers. Ginny and Joe were married Aug. 19, 1956, and were married for 52 years when Joe passed away in 2009.
Ginny was a member of both Allah Temple of Daughters of The Nile and Morning Light Chapter No. 312 O.E.S. for 40 years and a member of Living Word Lutheran Church in Roslyn for 50 years. She loved to read and play the piano, but her greatest love was her family.
Ginny is survived by three children, Mark (Cynthia), Lisa Lee, and Lara Jordan (Michael); 12 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. In addition to her husband Joe, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael.
Relatives and friends are invited to her memorial service 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Living Word Church, 1250 Easton Rd., Roslyn, PA. 19001. Friends may greet the family starting at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be held privately.
