Andrew F. Adamchak, age 87, formerly of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Margaret Dolny Adamchak, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at the Carolton Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center, Fairfield. Born in Bridgeport, Mr. Adamchak was a lifelong Bridgeport resident before moving to Stratford four years ago. He had worked for the Bullard and the American Chain and Cable Companies, from which he retired. Mr. Adamchak was a member of the 242nd National Guard and was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the European Theatre under Gen. George Patton. He was a past president of the Fairfield Prep Bellarmine Fathers Club, past Commodore of the Sun Haven Beach and Sailing Club and had been a member of the Fayerweather Yacht Club. In addition to Marge, his beloved wife of 64 years, he was a loving father to Peggy Adamchak of Stratford and Russell Adamchak and his wife, Mary Lacey Adamchak of Va., he leaves behind his grandsons, Keenan P. Adamchak and Andre S. Adamchak, both of Virginia, a special nephew, Chris Dolny and his wife Cathy, their children Sarah and Chelsea as well as many nieces and nephews. Andy was a man who was loved by all and will be greatly missed-God Speed Dad!. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Marks Roman Catholic Church, Wigwam Lane, Stratford. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven cemetery, Trumbull with full military honors. Calling hours will be held on Friday (TODAY) from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bellarmine Fathers Club of Ffld Prep.
