Booneville - Virgil Harris, age 82, husband of Anna Mae (Thompson) Harris, passed away Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY.

Virgil was born in Owsley County, KY, on September 26, 1927, to the late Walter Minus and Susan Peters Harris. He was a Baptist Minister, a member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church, he had worked with Ova Cornett as a carpenter, and was a member of the Masonic New Hope Lodge #574.

Along with his wife of 60 years, he is survived by 6 daughters, Phyllis (& Bill) Cavins and Sandy (& Ed) Coffey both of Jackson County, KY, Bernice Coffey and Rosie Harris both of Booneville, KY, Linda (& Dewey) Moore of Franklin, OH, and Judy (& Caroll) Ford of Marietta, GA, 20 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are 2 sisters, Opal Burch of Booneville, KY, and Emma Allen of Shelbyville, KY, and a host of other friends and relatives.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 brother, Garfield Harris, and 2 daughters, Sharon K. Harris Abshear, and Cathy Abshear.

Funeral services will be at the Booneville Funeral Home, at 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, March 6th, 2010, with Rev. Bobby Burchette officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 A.M., with Masonic Rites at 1:30 P.M. Interment at Harris Family Cemetery, Booneville, KY, with the Booneville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Metcalf, Harvey Moore, Jamie Moore, Chris Harris, Virgil Clay Harris, Brian Coffey, and Scotty Harris.
