Edward Arthur Whitton, 72, of Sarasota, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2015. Born in Paris, Illinois, Mr. Whitton had been a local resident since 1957 after moving here from Terra Haute, Indiana. A member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, he was retired from the U.S. Navy and had continued his work as a draftsman for many years. Mr. Whitton was a Boy Scout Leader and served with handicapped Scouts. He enjoyed painting and photography. Survivors include his loving wife of 18 years, Saundra, daughters, Christine Cory; Theresa Davidson; Betty Ann Coppolo; brother, Charles H. Whitton III; sister, Sandra Klein and one granddaughter, Kelsey Davidson. A committal ceremony with military honors will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warriors (woundedwarriorsproject.org).
