Walt Alexander was the son of Leitha and Thomas Alexander. He was born in the town of Pampa, Texas on June 17, 1941. At the age of 5, Walt moved to Strathmore, Ca where he was raised by his mother.
Walt graduated from Strathmore High School in 1959. After high school, he worked several part time jobs to pay for his college education. Walt married his first wife Sally, and had two children, Nicol and Shawn. After graduating from Fresno State University with an engineering degree and passing the state of California's contractor's exam, Walt started his career as an underground pipe contractor.
In 1970, and after he completed several jobs in southern California, Walt decided to make a move to Sacramento, Ca. In 1971 Superior Pipelines Inc. was born. By 1975 Superior Pipelines had become a highly respected company in the Sacramento area. Walt was very proud of the company he had created. Walt married his second wife, Donna, in 1973. She had two children, Rocky and Ginger.
As Superior Pipelines became more successful, Walt was able to pursue a lifelong passion of "flying". He became a pilot and nothing made him happier than being in the air flying his plane. He always used to say, "It's tough to soar with the eagles when you're on the ground surrounded by turkeys".
By the end of the 80's, work was drying up in the Sacramento area and Walt had made the decision to relocate his company to Bakersfield, Ca. Because of his strong work ethic, Superior Pipelines would become an esteemed contractor in a very short time.
In 2007 Walt suffered the loss of his wife Donna. This would bring his life full circle, reconnecting with a lifelong friend who had recently suffered the loss of her husband. Walt married his third wife, Elaine. They spent the next five years enjoying life. If they weren't in Hawaii, enjoying the sand and sun, they were on the central coast remodeling their beach house.
In 2013 Walt was diagnosed with cancer. He spent the next two years with Elaine by his side, determined to overcome his diagnosis. Anybody that had the pleasure of knowing Walt knew that he faced all challenges head on, and the word "quit" was not in his vocabulary. Walt did not succumb to cancer; he rose above it, and he will forever live his dream, soaring amongst the eagles.
Walt was preceded in death by: his mother Leitha Alexander, his sisters Mary Elizabeth and Eva Lee, brother Lowell Crocker and his second wife Donna Alexander.
Services will be held November 20th at 11am graveside at Hillcrest Cemetery, 1013 east Olive Ave, in Porterville.
