Born "Baby Girl" Rubin, to Dorothy Armstrong (nee Rubin); and soon adopted as: Jennifer Anne Hickman, by the Hickman family via The Cradle Society in 1975, Illinois. Married, she ultimately was called Jennifer Anne Ostermann.

Sister, Daughter, Mother... Loved by many.

And Jenny loved many things: her child, her extended, unconventional family, all animals in need of care, antiques, and also... the color purple!
She was a searcher---a restless, inquisitive spirit who beamed upon engaging in interesting conversations with unusual people. She needed her alone time, yet being in love was also the world to her.
She loved giving thoughtful gifts, and she gave the best because not only did she have a heart of gold, she really took the time to truly know people.
She left all of us on a cold, cloudy day in December, trying so hard to find the love that eluded her---if only she could see.

Survived (at the time of her death) by:
Her birth mother, Dorothy Rubin Armstrong (died 2017) of suburban Chicago, IL; her father, Ervin Armstrong (died 2018), of southern Indiana; her brother, Allan Armstrong, of Brooklyn, NY; her son, Noah, of Ohio;
and her loving adopted family, the Hickmans.

Inscription

The back of her tombstone reads:

The next place that I go will be as peaceful and familiar as a sleepy summer Sunday, and a sweet untroubled mind.
I'll glide beyond the rainbows, I'll drift above the sky. I'll fly in the wonder, without ever wondering why.
There'll be no room for darkness in that place of living light. Where an ever dawning morning pushes back the dying night.
The very air will fill with brilliance as the brightly shining sun and the moon and half a million stars are married into one.
I will cherish all the friendship I was fortunate to find. All the love and all the laughter in the place I leave behind.
All these good things will go with me. They will make my spirit glow. And the light will shine forever in the next place that I go.
