2007 obituary. PORTLAND -- Frank P. Lapomarda, 89, of Portland, died Sunday, June 3, 2007, at the Maine Veterans' Home in Scarborough. He was born in Portland on March 8, 1918, the son of Lorenzo and Maria Marrone Lapomarda, and attended Portland schools. Mr. Lapomarda served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following the war, he went to work for the U.S. Postal Service, where he worked until his retirement in 1973. He was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church, and a life member of its Holy Name Society. He was also a former member of the American Legion. Mr. Lapomarda was predeceased by two brothers, Vincent Lapomarda and Joseph Lapomarda. The family would like to express its gratitude to the entire staff at the Maine Veterans' Home for the wonderful care given to Frank during his stay. At Frank's request, there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
