Treasure Stanley 86, a lifelong Melvin resident, died Sunday September 3, 2006, after a very short illness, at Hurley Medical Center, Flint. She was born October 30, 1919 in Melvin the daughter of Orval and Blanche Groat.
Treasure and Walter George Stanley were married August 17, 1940 in Melvin. Walter died October 2, 1976. She was a member of Melvin United Methodist Church and was very active in the quilting group.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Suzann and Walter Smith of Yale and son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Janet Stanley of Melvin; grandchildren Elizabeth (Steven) Gaipa, Christopher (Stephanie) Stanley, Jonathon (Terry) Smith, Katheryn (Scott) Swartzfisher and Carrie Collins; 10 great-grandchildren; her siblings Fern Demaray of Melvin, Marshall Groat and Raymon (Doris) Groat of AL and Lewin (Joan) Groat of CA; and several nieces and nephews.
Her family honors the memory of Treasure and invite you to visit and share Thursday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale, and attend funeral services 11:00 a.m. Friday with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Rev. Deborah Brown, pastor of Melvin United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Melvin.
