Arthur Dale Newcomb age 83, of Osawatomie, Kansas died Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at his home.

Dale was born July 7, 1932 in rural Rich Hill, Missouri the second of four children born to Arthur and Emma (Black) Newcomb. He grew up in Rich Hill and graduated from Rich Hill High School with the class of 1950.

In 1952 he was inducted into the United State Army during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge in 1954. After returning home he went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad as a welder.

On December 31, 1955 he was united in marriage to Joanne Love in Nevada, Missouri. They made their home in Rich Hill and became the proud parents of their only child Stanley Dale. His beloved wife Joanne died on February 23, 2011 they had been married for fifty-six years.

Dale retired from the railroad in the 1990’s after almost forty years of service. He truly enjoyed retirement and watching sports on television was one of his favorite pastimes. He was an avid sports enthusiast and a loyal Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan. Not to mention he named his son after a ball player for the St. Louis Cardinals and was somewhat partial of Mizzou.

He enjoyed his backyard wild life and would feed the birds and squirrels every day. He liked relaxing while listening to his favorite country music with his two little companion kitty’s Bubba Ray and Bonnie Fay that shared his loving home.

But most of all Dale was a true family man, a wonderful husband and a great father, he loved his two grand-daughters Katie and Laura and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a loyal, modest man, honest as the day is long and just as hardworking, he will be missed by many.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joanne, a brother Eugene Newcomb and one sister Flossie Baer.

He is survived by his son Stanley (Valerie) Newcomb of Westwood, KS, one sister Eidith DeTiene of Chula Vista, CA, two grand-daughters Katie (David) Stephens and Laura Newcomb both of Merriam, KS and one week old great grandson Stanley Lewis Stephens. Along with many other family members and friends.
