Donald M. Valenta, 65, E1578 County Road BB, Denmark, died unexpectedly Monday morning, July 13, 2009, while camping at Rhinelander.

Donald was born on May 6, 1944, in Manitowoc County, son of the late Melvin and Haroldine Burmeister Valenta.

On July 9, 1966, he was married to the former Patricia A. Havlovitz at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tisch Mills.

Don retired in March after working for 37 years at Eck Foundry in Manitowoc. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibson. Don enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, hunting, gardening, cutting wood, and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Valenta, Denmark; three children and their families, Keith (Tammy) Valenta and their children, Jared and Dustin, Luxemburg; Lana (Dale) Van Pay and their children, Colby and Eden, Kewaunee; Kiara (Greg) Holman and their children, Darren and Brayden, Luxemburg; his father-in-law, Emil Havlovitz, Manitowoc; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law include, Ronald (Karen) Wagner; Francis Creek; Gerald (Betty) Havlovitz, Kewaunee; Nancy Lorenz, Kings Bridge; Robert (Betty) Havlovitz, Denmark; John "Jack" (Lois) Havlovitz, Mishicot. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Patsy Wagner; his mother-in-law, Helen Havlovitz; and one brother-in-law, Wayne Lorenz.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2009, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 16904 Hwy. Q in Gibson. Rev. Maurice Hoppe will officiate with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Kellnersville is serving the Valenta family.
