F. Oliver Degitz of Quincy, IL. died Sunday, Dec. 4, 1994 at his home.

Son of John Degitz and his wife, the former Fredericka Ackerman. Born 26 November 1906 in Quincy, Illinois.


Thelma M. Oliver and F. Oliver Degitz married 18 August 1936 in Quincy Illinois. Mr. Degitz belonged to Salem Evangelical Church of Christ. He served on its board and sang 20 years in its choir.


Mr. Degitz worked in investment. He worked for Brower Manufacturing and retired in 1968. He then began work for General Box company, and for the Illinois Tollway, eleven yeas. He retired in 1982.


Memberships included YMCA where he sang 18 years in its male chorus. In 1947 and in 1948 the chorus achieved first place awards at the Chicagoland Music Festival, Chicago Illinois. He was president of the local YMCA board.


F. Oliver Degitz belonged to Herman Lodge 39, A. F. and A. M.; Adeline Chapter 118 Order of the Eastern Star, Quincy Consistory, and the Mohammed Shrine of Peoria Illinois.


He passed away 4 December 1994 at his residence in Quincy, Illinois. One sister, and two brothers, preceded him in death. Reverend Rob Hartmann led services held at a Quincy Illinois funeral parlor. Interment took place at Greenmount cemetery in Quincy, Illinois.
