Raymond Luther Morgan was born in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas. His father is Edward Joel Morgan. His mother is Fannie (Williams) Morgan.

His wife is Lillie Madolyn (Johnson) Morgan.

Raymond Luther Morgan, 88, of 2041 Butternut, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 1990 at 2:40 p.m.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Belmont Baptist Church with the Rev. H.B. Terry, Jr. and E. B. McCown officiating, assisted by the Rev. Wayne Griffin. Burial will be in the Clyde Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

A very talented, loving, and unselfish man will be missed by all his family and a host of friends.

Mr. Morgan was born in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas on September 6, 1902. He graduated from Clyde High School in 1928 and moved from Clyde to Abilene in 1957.

A carpenter and wallpaper hanger, he wrote poetry and taught art lessons at the Rose Park Senior Citizens Center. He conducted and formed his own singing group that performed at the local nursing homes at least four times a week.

He wrote the words and music to a number of his songs and was a member of the Belmont Baptist Church. He loved family gatherings because his family and his volunteer work was his life.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Allison Morgan of Abilene; a daughter, Joyce Edwards of Pecos; two sons, Stanley Morgan and Harold Morgan, both of Abilene; two granddaughters, Debbie Miller of Comanche and Starla Bryan of Abilene; and a great granddaughter, Rachel Dawn Miller of Comanche. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillie Madolyn (Johnson) Morgan.
