WILLIAM EVAN JONES - Passed away in the early morning of Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Mackenzie Health Centre on his 82nd birthday. Bill Jones, known as "Jingles" to his many friends and colleagues is survived by his son Alexander (Sandy) Scott Daviau-Jones, his step-children Blake (Sue), Derek (Joanne) and Michelle (Barry) and grandchildren Nicole, Carley, Logan and Arden. He is predeceased by his wife Margaret and his six siblings Peggy, Dorothy, Alda, Betsy, Gordon and Donald. Bill, a native of Toronto, born to Elizabeth (nee Laughlin) and Frank Jones, was honoured to be a Toronto Firefighter for 33 years. He served from February 1959 and retired as an acting Captain in June 1992. Bill served for many years as Director of Local 113 and the Toronto Fire Department Pensioners' Association (TFDPA). Those that knew Bill will remember his storytelling and humorous pranks. An awarded lifesaving fireman, Bill was a community activist, artist writer, poet and a firefighter first class. Bill will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, generations of nieces and nephews, his dear friend Jean and many colleagues and friends. Family and friends will be received for visitation between 12 and 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 11th at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home, 211 Langstaff Road East (west of Bayview), Thornhill. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. with reception and interment to follow.
