Aberdeen - Lillian Vina Maier, 78, of Aberdeen died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, at Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen, with Chaplain Deb Barnett presiding. Burial will follow at noon at Salem-Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Long Lake, S.D. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Lillian Vina Burrer was born Oct. 20, 1927, at Eureka, S.D., to Christian C. and Rosina (Hagel) Burrer. She attended school at Eureka. She then worked as a waitress at the Moccasin Creek Country Club and as a maid at the Radisson Hotel and the Avalon Motel. On April 8, 1948, she married Walter Aseoph Maier at Ashley, N.D. After their marriage, they moved to Long Lake, S.D. A few years later they settled in Aberdeen. Walter passed away on May 25, 1985, and Lillian continued to make Aberdeen her home until the time of her death. Lillian enjoyed relaxing in her recliner watching television or reading a good book. Mostly, she liked to read romance novels and was an avid member of the Harlequin Book Club. In her spare time she enjoyed visiting with friends and family. Her memory lives on with her sons, Gerald (Candy) Maier of Reston, Va., and Gary (Karen) Maier of Aberdeen, S.D.; her daughters, Beverly (Gabriel) Young of Aberdeen, S.D., and Sally (Frank) Bock of Northville, S.D.; one brother, Fred Burrer of Aberdeen, S.D.; two sisters, Alma (Reinhold) Wagenmann of Aberdeen, S.D., and Lorentina (Gustave) Hottman of Coon Rapids, Minn.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers, Arthur Burrer, William Burrer, Walter Burrer, Benjamin Burrer and Marvin Burrer and two sisters, Malinda Hottman and Esther Heiser. Casket bearers will be Robert Maier, Jonathan Maier, Roger Weifenbach, Scott Mettler, Frank Bock and Mike Hottman. Honorary casket bearers will be Gerald Maier, Gary Maier, Fred Burrer and Jim Bird.
