Miles married Sarah Corbin 22 Apr 1832 at Clermont County, Ohio and together were parents to:

Sarah Corbin was the daughter of his Uncle Elijah Lindsey's second wife Mary Anderson by her first husband Nathan Corbin.
Shortly after their marriage, about 1833, Miles and Sarah moved their family to Lake County, Indiana along with Uncle Elijah Lindsey and his wife Mary Anderson, wife Sarah's mother. Miles purchased 80 acres in E½NE¼ Sec 17 T34N R7W, see image at left. He and his family were enumerated in 1840 living next door to recently widowed mother-in-law Mary Anderson Lindsey and brother-in-law James Corbin.
By 1850, Sarah had died and Miles had remarried to married Catherine [LNU, suspected to be Young] 3 Feb 1850 [no documentation has been found to support this claim] and together were parents to:
- Alice S Mattox
- and possibly others
The family were living at Vinland, Winnebago, Wisconsin per the 1850 census, in which Miles, wife Catherine, and his children by Sarah; Mary Anderson Mattox, John Wesley Mattox, Amanda Clara Mattox and Emily Catherine Mattox were enumerated. Miles purchased land on 5 Aug 1850 in Sec 8 & 9 T18N R22E in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin.

Catherine Mattox died 19 Mar 1884 at De Soto, Dallas, Iowa and Miles married a third time to Mary Ann [nee Allen] Clark Dicks 16 Aug 1886 at Randall, Jewell, Kansas.
