CINDY DEVON

Cynthia Kay “Snider” DeVon was born October 8, 1956 in Ponca City, OK to Chet Snider and Arlene Lewis Lyon. Cindy graduated from Woodward High School in 1974. On November 18, 1979, Cindy married the love of her life Chuck DeVon. Chuck and Cindy started their journey together with stops in Woodward, El Reno, Cherokee, and Enid, OK where Chuck was stationed with the Oklahoma National Guard. To their union three daughters were born, Aryn Alicia, McKensie Kay, and Morgan Suzanne.

Cindy was adventurous; among the many things she enjoyed was attending her own children’s sporting events as well as other family members, traveling with her siblings on her sister trips, making crafts and a must the “Walleye Rodeo”.

Cindy had the biggest and most caring heart; she devoted her time for nurturing others. She nursed her husband Chuck, her father Chet, her Aunt Mary Lee and her niece Shannon through their terminal illnesses, as well as accompanying many other family and friends to their various appointments. Cindy sacrificed her privacy and opened her home to those she believed needed a family or support.

Cindy served on many committees and Cindy was awarded the “Molly Pitcher Award” by the Oklahoma National Guard. This award was a token of her dedication of putting others before herself and providing an unselfish attitude to those in need.

Cindy showed great pride in being a leader in festive events and acted as the matriarch to bring her family members together for Snider family reunions, which was always her all-time favorite.

Cindy was survived by her daughters of the home; Aryn, Kensie and Morgan DeVon. Her grandchildren Gabe, Daylen and Ariana. Her mother and dad, Arlene and Lee Lyon. One brother, Robert Lyon and wife Laura of Woodward. Five sisters; Sheryl Woods and husband BG of Gage, Kathy Reese and husband Nelson of Mooreland, Connie Mead and husband Wayne of Woodward, Shannon Ball and husband Mark of Sharon, LeeAnn Smith and husband R. Bryan of Edmond and bonus brother Ben Holt. Step mother Delois Snider, step brothers Joe McEachern and wife Cathy and Charles Peery. Her Mother-in-law, Betty Devon, Brothers-in-law Steve and Kirby Devon, sisters-in-law Jolene Whalen and Debbie Booth. Several nieces, nephews and many special friends….too many to mention.

Cindy was preceded in death by her husband Chuck DeVon on Febuary 10, 2014. Her father Chet Snider, grandmother Ila Lewis, her father-in-law Charles DeVon, niece Shannon Hunter, and numerous Aunts and Uncles.
