Frank married Jeanette Gebelin in October, 1950. They were happily married for 65 years. They have five children. Cherie, Patrick, Annette, Angela and Paul. Thirteen grandchildren and Eleven great-grandchildren. Frank was a devoted and beloved Papa to each one.
This Bio by Al Caldwell. Frank and I first met in 1944 when we both were in the Sea Scouts. When Frank turned 17 he joined the Navy. He went aboard the Air Craft Carrier Independence. Frank was at Operation Crossroads, the nuclear bomb test in 1946 at the Bikini Atoll. Frank and I have had many happy times together. We married twin sisters, Jeanne and Jeanette Gebelin. Our families were very close to each other. Frank and I did so many things together it is imposable to tell you in this short bio. We did lots of water skiing, lots flying and hunting. We bought our first airplane together for $50. It was not ready to fly. We put another $50. in the airplane and it was ready to fly. Frank had a private pilot’s license and he taught me to fly.
One time we were duck hunting at the Salton Sea. We brought my boat with us so we could do some water skiing too. When we were shooting ducks I noticed that Frank was not shooting. I turned around and saw him sitting on the ground with his hands over his eyes. I ran over to him and pulled his hands down and asked if he could see me. The shot gun was laying in pieces on the ground. His eyes were OK, but his hand was hurting. He must not have gotten the bolt closed all the way before he pulled the trigger.
Frank and I have been the best of friends right up to the time of his death.
