Herman Charles Schultz Jr. passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007.

He was born April 15, 1920, to Herman Sr. and Ida Schultz of Leavenworth.

He served in the Army from 1942 to 1946. After working for the government for 35 years, he retired as a surgical technician at the V.A. Medical Center in Leavenworth.

Herman was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., a member of the American Legion and a Golden Eagle. He enjoyed many hobbies such as bowling, camping, boating and fishing - especially when his grandchildren were involved. Herman was very fond of working in his yard and tinkering around the house.

He is survived by his wife, Irene; his two daughters, Sharon Zwickel (Don) and Mary Ann Garsow, both of Leavenworth; and his grandchildren, Brian Garsow (Jen) of Lansing, Brad Garsow (Aimee) of Leavenworth and Leigh Ann Johnson (Jon) of Overland Park, Kan. Herman was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, Kyle, Jared, Cora and Joseph Garsow and Julian Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Dawna Renee' Zwickel.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Davis Funeral Chapel handled the arrangements.
