David died unexpectedly on Friday September 8th, he departed this life quietly at home. Dave is survived by his wife of 45 years Virginia nee Rinke, sons David Jr. (Penni) and Denis (Michelle) and his two greatest loves grand- daughters Meredith and Brittney. Survivng siblings include Dorothy Darnaby, James (Gloria) and Phillip (Mary) Brunner. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Dave is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Elsie and siblings Donald, Leroy and Marlene Wheeler. Dave, a proud American, will be fondly remembered as Santa to many people in the greater Mokena area. Sharing Chirstmas Cheer was his most cherished hobby. Dave was retired from the E,J & E Railway but kept active driving a school bus and was known as the pizza guy for Aurelio's Pizza. Dave could be seen cooking pizza every Friday during football season at either L - Way East or Central. Over the years he was active with Mokena Baseball, Frankfort Bowling Lanes and as Santa for numerous schools, Churches and community groups.
