Ervin “Ray” Ball, 75, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday evening, January 6, 2016 at his home in Winfield.

Born February 27, 1940 in Gramby, Missouri, he was the son of Earl and Hattie Josetta (Stockton) Ball. He was raised and received his education in Arkansas City, Kansas, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1958.

In 1965, Ray was united in marriage to Sandra Marie Wells at the Presbyterian Church in Arkansas City. The couple made their home in Arkansas City, where Ray worked for Rodeo Meat Packing and later Santa Fe Railroad. In 1968, the family moved to Auburn, Washington where Ray worked for Safeway. In 1978, they returned to Kansas and he began working for Binney and Smith and remained there until retiring in 1997. After retiring from Binney & Smith, he worked for the City of Winfield until December of 2014. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and working on Brian’s projects.

His family includes: His wife: Sandy Ball of Winfield; His daughter: Sheila Krug and husband, Jamie of Winfield; His son: Brian Ball and wife, Sher of Udall; His brother: Ora Lee Ball of Arkansas City; His sisters: Jessie Sidener of Orting, WA; Wanda Barker of Arkansas City; His 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren:

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his children, Rhonda Andes, Terri McBeth and Tracy Morris, his sisters, Lorene Barcley, Bertha Olsen, Juanita Gibson and Irene Richardson and his brothers, Ivan Ball and Walter Ball, and his granddaughter, Kaylee Applewhite.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 11, 2016 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 6:00. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that afternoon.

Memorials have been established in Ray’s name for the Cowley County Humane Society and Eagle’s Nest. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
