John Henry Lyst Funeral Rites To Be Held Saturday
ELWOOD -- John Henry Lyst, 81, 1416 S. F St., lifelong resident of this community, died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held in the First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, by the Rev. R. W. Sage, pastor, assisted by the Rev. H. J. Jordan, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Elwood City Cemetery. The body was taken to the Clark Chapel and will be taken at noon Saturday to the church, to lay in state until the rites. Friends may call at the funeral home.
Mr. Lyst was born in Elwood Jan. 22, 1872, a son of John and Sarah Lyst, and married Floy Swift on Sept. 25, 1895. He was a retired employe of the Carnegie-Illinois Steel Corporation, having been employed at the Elwood tinplate mill forty years. He was a member of the first Baptist Church.
Surviving are the widow; three daughters, Miss Gertrude Lyst, at home, Mrs. Walter Thomas, Elwood, and Mrs. Miriam Ertel, Anderson; a son, John O. Lyst, New Kensington, Pa.; four grandchildren and three great-granchildren.
