Jona Jean Albert, 55, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Jona was born on Jan. 13, 1960, in Green Bay, Wis., to John and Janet Szprejda. She graduated from Sentinel High School in Missoula, Mont., in 1978. She then moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, with her parents.

Jona married Allen Albert on June 11, 1981, in Sandpoint. She proudly served as a military wife from 1981-1994; traveling to Kansas, Germany, Washington and Panama. After Allen's retirement in 1994, they returned to Sandpoint, where she worked several jobs including Arby's and Sand-Ida. Her most favorite job of all was taking care of all her grandchildren.

She was a member of Cedar Hills Church. Her family brought her the greatest joy. She loved her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed making jewelry, arts, crafts, needle work, and fixing weekend dinners.

Jona is survived by her husband of 34 years, Allen Albert of Sandpoint; her mother, Janet DeLong of Ocean Shores, Wash.; her father, John (Rose) Szprejda of Medical Lake, Wash.; five children, Jonathan (Tess) Albert of Boise, Idaho, Michael (Sarah) Albert of Elk, Wash., Kimberly Albert of Sandpoint, Trevor (Tara) Albert of Sandpoint, and Teresa (Ben) Gunter of Sagle, Idaho; many grandchildren, Blair, Blake, Madison, Rachael, Mirabelle, Kayla, Sofie, Austin, Donald, Maddie, Katie, Henry, and Hudson; six siblings, Gary Szprejda of Crivitz, Wis., Stacey (Richard) Lubinski of Crivitz, Susan Szprejda of Chandler, Ariz., Steven (Trish) Szprejda of Santa Cruz, Calif., Jeanine DeLong of Ocean Shores, Wash., and Teresa (Kurt) James of Medical Lake, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her in-laws, Harold and Joyce Albert of Sandpoint.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Lyle Fuson,; her stepfather, Robert DeLong; and her grandmother, Opal Fuson.--Bonner County Daily Bee, Saturday, Jan. 10, 2016

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 26 at the Eagles Lodge in Sandpoint with Eric Rust of Cedar Hills Church officiating. The Devon Wade Band will perform from 4-8 p.m. after the service. There will be a potluck so please bring a dish.
