"The unexpected death of Mrs. Louis M. Jones, 74, occurred at her apartment at 117 Jackson Street Sunday morning at 10 o'clock. Mrs. Jones had been in failing health for several months but her condition had not been considered serious.

Mattie Madeline Carr, a daughter of the late John M. and Georgia Ann (Adams) Carr, was born at Blue Mound, Missouri, March 13, 1875. She was graduated from the Blue Mound schools and later attended college in Kansas. She married Louis M. Jones at Chillicothe on December 16, 1902, and they made their home just west of the Oak Grove school, three miles southeast of Chillicothe. After Mr. Jones death March 12, 1936, Mrs. Jones moved to Chillicothe and had since made her residence here. She was a member of the Elm Street Methodist Church and active in the McNally Sunday school class.

Surviving Mrs. Jones is one daughter, Miss Juanita Mae Jones of Kansas City, and two brothers, E. W. Carr of Chillicothe and R. W. Carr of Nevada. Four brothers and six sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held from Elm Street Methodist Church Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. Frank Baker. Interment will be made alongside Mr. Jones in Edgewood Cemetery." The Chillicothe Constitution-Tribune, January 16, 1950
