Longtime Alamosa resident Dell F. Duran, 77, died January 5, 2016 at St Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado.

Dell was born May 15, 1938 in Pagosa Springs, Colorado to Mel and Rose Duran. He married Kay W. Baker on Labor Day in 1962 and spent 48 years of wonderful marriage with her until Kay’s passing in 2010.

Dell was well known throughout Alamosa as one of the best business men around. He loved what he did and worked his entire life always looking for the next business venture or trying to open up another local business for the people of Alamosa to enjoy. He is most well-known for his insurance business that not only was his livelihood but also provided jobs to multiple people here in the valley.

Dell was a very charitable man and would never hesitate helping people if he was in a position to do so. When Dell wasn’t working, which was very rare, he would try and go fly fishing or just work with his hands building cabinets or pretty much anything else he could build out of wood.

Dell is survived by his children: Frank Duran of Alamosa, Troy (Sherry) Duran of Alamosa, and Craig (Donna) Duran of Alamosa; his grandchildren: Troy “LT” Duran, Derek Duran, Shane Duran, and Alicia Kay Duran; and his great-grandchildren: Haley Rose, Anastasia, Tommy, and Vincente.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Kay W. Duran. His Parents, Mel and Rose Duran. And his granddaughter Mara Rachael Duran.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Monday January 11, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7pm on Sunday January 10, 2016 also at the church. Interment will follow services in the Alamosa Cemetery. Rogers Family Mortuary of Alamosa is in care of the arrangements.
