Evelyn Berman of Saratoga passed away peacefully on Sunday December 29, 2013 at the age of 92.
She was born to Harry and Elsie Saul, Aug. 17, 1921 in Henryetta, Oklahoma. She spent her younger years growing up in Springfield, Missouri. After a brief stay in Southern California she moved to San Jose as a teenager where she lived most of her adult life. She graduated from San Jose High school in 1939.
Evelyn was married to Aaron Berman on Dec. 3, 1939. She met Aaron at a local Jewish function where they instantly fell in love and went on to spend 74 happy years together.
Evelyn was a devoted wife and home maker whose greatest passion in life was caring for her family. Always concerned for their well-being there is nothing in the world she would not do for them. She loved to travel spanning the globe on interesting trips to far away destinations with her husband Aaron and often bringing family along. She also enjoyed entertaining, hosting countless birthday and holiday parties for which you could always count on Evy to go all out.
Her friends were also very important; knowing many of them since she was a teenager. She had impeccable taste and an incredible eye for decorating, designing her homes into works of art. Her San Jose home on Richland Ave. was featured in an article of the October 25th, 1959 edition of the Mercury News.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Zelda Brust; brother, Norman Saul; and son, Steve Berman. She is survived by her husband Aaron Berman; son, Leslie Berman; niece, Claudia (Brian) McCauley; grandchildren Todd (Geoconda) Berman, Carrie Berman, Brian Berman, Elaine Berman, and Justin (Nicola) Berman; great grandchildren Joshua Berman, Jayden Hopkins, and Colin Berman.
Services and burial held on Mon. 1/6 at 12pm. Donations may be made to donors' favorite charity in memory of Evelyn Berman or Temple Emanuel located at 1010 University Avenue, San Jose, Ca.
