STOTTMAN, RITA C., 91, of Louisville, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the home of her daughter.

Rita Catherine Cecilia Crain was born on February 24, 1920, the youngest of nine children. Known as Maw Maw to all her family, small in stature (5'barely) she was an amazing and talented woman. She was very gifted as a singer and piano player. At the age of 16, she performed in many local area night clubs and had her own radio show where she serenaded her listening audience with her beautiful voice. She also loved playing her ukulele, entertaining everyone up until almost the very end.

Mom was a wonderful and loving mother, raising six kids. She had an incredible sense of humor and kept her family and friends entertained. A great cook and provider, she was famous for her homemade pies. She never met a stranger and always had hugs for everyone. After raising her children, she started her career at the old First National Bank, first as a teller and then as a trainer of tellers where she retired. She was well known at most of the branches because of her quick wit and charm.

A devout Catholic by faith, she was a member of St. Barnabas Church for close to 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James Joseph Stottman; her parents, Michael Patrick and Stella A. Crain; her three brothers, Ed, Joe and James Crain; her five sisters, Libby Baker, Hannah Zaepfel, Julie Wise, Ted Herbert, and Mary Lottie Schmidt.

Rita is survived by her six children, Steve Stottman (Mary), Rita Carol Bean (Jack), Jim Stottman (Diane), Patti Raley (Ron), Kenny Stottman (Susan) and Paul Stottman (Susan); 11 grandchildren, Steve Bean (Paula) Greg Bean (Jennifer), Matt Bean (Denise), Josh Stottman (Lori), Jaime Whitaker (Robbie), Jay Stottman (Beth), Teri Heilman (Charlie), Kim Medley (PJ), Brad Raley, Craig Stottman and Richard Stottman; and 17 great-grandchildren, Ryon, Makenna, Kyle, Emily, Macy and Carter Bean, Brady, Beckett, Sam, and Luke Stottman, Jake Sharp, Savannah, Noah, and Ella Medley, Rylee and Kaylin Senninger and Levi Whitaker.

Thanks go out to the loving and caring staff of the Roseanna Hughes Assisted Living Facility who took great care of Rita for the last four and a half years. Also to the wonderful people of Hosparus for their help and dedication. Blessings to Brenda and Holly who gave her joy in her last months.

A celebration of Maw Maw's life will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 3042 Hikes Lane, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.

"Late last night Heaven got a new angel with a beautiful voice and some mad piano skills. We love and miss you, Maw Maw." Memorial donations can be made to either Hosparus or the Alzheimer's Association.
