Jabez, Beulah, and the family came to Oregon from Iowa in 1874 and settled near Junction City, where they resided about 30 years, coming thence to Drain where death claimed both husband and wife. Beulah, familiarly called Grandma Akers, was one of those sturdy characters that have figured so conspicuously in the upbuilding of Oregon. Jabez and Beulah had 8 children, only 2 living at the time of her death, Lucinda Ellen (Mrs. William Caspar Edwards)of Drain, and Mrs. A.A. Young of Roche Harbor, WA. Beulah united with the Methodist Church when only 10 years old, and lived a consistent Christian life until the end. (Taken from her obituary in the June 6, 1912
