Landscape architect. Early on, he worked for Frederick Law Olmsted and assisted him in designing several World's Fairs. He moved to Los Angeles and was hired by the Rodeo Land and Water Company to lay out Beverly Hills. In collaboration with tree planter John J. Reeves, he designed a city now known as the most beautiful garden city in America. The business district was located at the lowest level and streets were lined with trees of identical size and species. Above Sunset Boulevard, the hillside lots were for luxury estates.
