Joseph married Sarah Williamson in 1841. The couple's children are Joseph Albert Bartlett, Mary E Bartlett, Helen Bartlett, Matilda A Bartlett - Rarick FAG #156682445, Charles Bartlett, Emma Bartlett and John W Bartlett.
Joseph's son Joseph Albert Bartlett served in the Civil War, Private, 186 NY Infantry 1864-1865.
Joseph is the son of Joseph Bartlett 1786-1854 and Grace Cornish 1796-1887. Both the Bartlett and Cornish lines have an ancestor who was a Captain in the Revolutionary War, the line leads back to Plymouth and he is a descendant of the Mayflower.
Watertown Daily Times obituary:
"BARTLETT - In Theresa, NY, May 25, 1899, Joseph Bartlett, aged 78 years. Remains will arrive on the 6:25 train this pm, and be taken to the residence of his sister Mrs Myron Rarick (daughter), 54 Leray Street, where funeral will be held, notice of which will be announced later".
According to the newspaper article located on Family Search, Joseph was a veteran veterinary surgeon. "Joseph has learned the language of the horse so perfectly that in his diagnosis of a case of a sick horse he locates the seat of the disease correctly, helped by sign language of the animal".
