He graduated from Harrisville High School, Class of 1938, and West Virginia University with a B.S. Degree in Agriculture. His World War II service included time with the 11th Airborne Division in Luzon, Okinawa and Japan, being discharged as a US Army Captain, Paratrooper.
Married to the late Mary Margaret Morris in 1948, they were favored with two children. The late Dana B Beall (Peggy), of Willliamstown and Donna Beall-Bishop(Donald) of Florida. In addition to his daughter and daughter in law, Russell is survived by four grandchildren, Brett Beall (Kelli) and daughter FaeLynn, Scott Beall all of Williamstown, Nicole Beall Swartzentruber (Nathan) of Seattle, WA, and Jeffrey Bishop(Katelyn) of Florida.
As an independent businessman, he was active in many areas. First as a farmer and livestock dealer, then as residential builder, followed by an oil and gas drilling contractor and producer.
He was a long time member and former President of the Independent Oil and Gas Association of WV. In the later years he was most active as a real estate broker, developer and consultant.
His public service also included two years in the WV House of Delegates and eight years in the WV Senate.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 3:00pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with Dr. Kurt Busiek officiating. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Harrisville at the convenience of the family.
