Died suddenly at his home on Washington Street Monday morning, March 2nd, aged 80 years and 10 months. He has been in his usual health until the moment of his death and had walked down town and back an hour before. Marvin F. Hawley, the seventh son of Sylvanus and Amelia Waldo Hawley was born in Warsaw, May 2nd 1827. He always lived in Gainesville and Warsaw except for a few years spent in Iowa. May 6, 1856 he was united in marriage to Lucy Foster who died several years ago. Two daughters blessed this union, Mary, the wife of Edgar E. Brain who died in 1873 and Cora the wife of Prof. George W. Glasier of Warsaw. About 5 years ago he was married to Mrs. Harriett Bush of this village who survives him. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Mrs. Dexter Butler of Wyoming, Mrs. Ellen Smith of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Mrs. Amelia Fuller of Iowa. Deceased was a man of most sterling and upright character, always looking for the good and not evil in those about him. In the varied events of a long life, he had a cheerful heart and a bright look for the future, believing all his life, that love and truth would in the end prevail over all evil wrong. He passed away suddenly as he had long wished to, like the quick closing of a door, into the beautiful beyond. Funeral services were held from his late home this afternoon at 2:00 Rev. George H. Burgess officiating with burial in Warsaw Cemetery.
