GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Donald A. "Don" Orem, age 44, of Greenwood, Ind., died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, Ind., after a gallant battle with cancer.

He was born Sept. 1, 1962, in Richmond to David and JoAnn Mullen Orem.


Don was a loving husband, devoted father and son who graduated from Centerville High School in 1980, from Ball State University in 1984 with a bachelor's degree in management information systems and from Indiana Wesleyan University with an MBA. He was a computer consultant for Microsoft, was an Eagle Scout and an accomplished guitarist.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Trace Orem, to whom he was married Nov. 9, 1980; daughter, Amanda Lowe and her husband Andy of Nevada; sons, Julian and Samuel Orem, both of Greenwood, Ind.; two grandchildren, Sara and Dylan; his parents; brothers, Jerry Orem and his wife Rhonda of Brownsburg, Ind., and Jeff Orem of Plano, Texas; maternal grandmother, Virginia (Mullen) Fisher of Richmond; aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

Funeral service for Donald A. Orem will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2006, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond, with Father Todd Riebe and Rev. Steve Brackney officiating. Entombment will be in Earlham Memorial Mausoleum. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at the funeral home.
