Milo D. Anderson, 90, of Ponca, NE passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016 at the Elms Health Care Center in Ponca, NE.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca, NE with Rev. Andrew Sohm officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a scriptural wake service at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, January 8, 2016 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE.

Milo was born on April 12, 1925 in rural Maskell, NE, the son of Ole and Hilda (Birkley) Anderson. He grew up on a farm and graduated from Ponca High School in 1943. Milo married Mary Lou Merchant on June 3, 1948 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Jackson, NE. He farmed, worked at the Sioux City Stockyards for many years while farming, and worked as a rural mail carrier for many years. Milo and Mary Lou raised six children. They moved into Ponca in 1997.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca, the Knights of Columbus, and was a former school board member. He enjoyed spending time with, vacationing with, deer hunting and fishing with his family, and woodworking. He loved creating things with wood, creating gifts for his children and grandchildren, including fourteen cedar chests he made with wood harvested from Mary Lou's parent's farm.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Anderson of Ponca, NE; children, Karen (Bob) Huls of Spirit Lake, IA, Linda (Wally) Bensen of Maskell, NE, Ray (Karen) Anderson of Ponca, NE, Ralph (Cindy) Anderson of Roca, NE and John (Lisa) Anderson of Sioux City, IA; grandchildren, Kevin (Valerie) Huls, Keith (Adri) Huls, Rob (Robin) Huls, Justin Winfrey and his girlfriend, Tamara Bennet, Valerie (Chance) Hall, Chris (Allison) Bensen, Andrew (Allison) Bensen, Katie Anderson, Bryson Anderson and Kellan Anderson; ten great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Anderson of Palmyra, MO; brother-in-law, Marlan Millard of Hubbard, NE; and many nieces and nephews.

Milo was preceded in death by his parents, Ole and Hilda Anderson; one daughter, Patricia Anderson; five brothers, Leonard (Margaret) Anderson, Kenneth (Elizabeth) Anderson, Lloyd (Jenette) Anderson, Merle Anderson and Warren Anderson; three sisters, Opal, Arlynn and Marie Anderson; father and mother-in-law, Marvin and Margaret Merchant; sister-in-law, Peggy Millard; and brother-in-law, Dick Merchant.
