Selma – Henry Leland Cockrell, age 78, died Tuesday morning, January 12, 2016 in Rex Hospital. Born December 12, 1937 in Wilson County to the late Rufus Henry and Hester Collier Cockrell, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Glenn Cockrell. Leland was a Twenty-Five year member of the Smithfield Police Department, a member of the White Lake Fire Department and a former volunteer with the Bladen County Water Rescue Squad.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Sitter officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
