BLUE GRASS — Bill was born May 7, 1923, to Russell and Pearl Baker Adams in Columbus Junction, Iowa. He graduated from Conesville (Iowa) High School in 1941 and served in the U.S. Marines in World War II with engagements in the South Pacific.
He married Gail Doudna in 1948 and graduated from Iowa State University in 1950.
He worked in plywood plants in Darlington, S.C., and Wausau, Wis., before accepting a position with Brammer Mfg. Co. in Davenport, where he retired after 25 years in 1983.
Bill was a member of Theta Xi fraternity, NRA, Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. He was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman.
Bill, 92, of rural Bluegrass, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sept. 11, 2015, while at Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard Adams; and a sister, Bernice Mundt.
He is survived by his wife, Gail, Blue Grass; a son, Gage D. Adams, Blue Grass; a daughter, Sammi Jo and Richard Luse, Melbourne; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; his sister, Wanda Carsen, Columbus Junction; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Bill Adams will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, at Honts Funeral Home in Winfield, Iowa. Pastor Troy Bendicks will officiate.
The family will gather and greet friends the hour before the funeral, and also at a luncheon following the burial service with military rites at Winfield-Scott Township Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established.
