Thelma Mae (Scheid) Hillas, 69, of Lancaster, entered into rest on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at her daughter, Cheryl’s home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late James J. Hillas, who died in 1988 and the late Jennings W. Canfield.
Thelma had retired from Lumsden Corporation, Lancaster.
Born September 20, 1946 in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late William Richard and Florence C. (Wanner) Scheid. She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family.
Surviving are three children; Cheryl L. Canfield, Tracey L., wife of Steven M. Resch, Sr. and James W. Canfield, all of Lancaster; five grandchildren; Steven M. Resch, Jr., Joey J. Bukowski, Joshua M. Resch, Alexis D. Canfield and Nickolas W. Bukowski; two great-grandchildren; three siblings; Richard H. Scheid, Miriam C. Wilson and Harold S. Scheid as well as extended family and caring friends. She was also preceded in death by two siblings; Linda L. Moore and Romanus E. Scheid.
Thelma’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Al Starr Community (behind the Willow Street Fire Company), 2901 Willow Street Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603 on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2016 beginning at 2PM. (In case of inclement weather it will be held the following Sunday) In lieu of flowers, Memorial Remembrances can be made in Thelma’s memory to Relay for Life.
