Cornelia Jackson Kinard, 88, of Athens, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at her residence.
A native and lifelong resident of Greer, S.C., she was a resident of Athens for the past two years. She was a daughter of the late Thurlow Quain "T. Q." and May Gibson Jackson, and was preceded in death by her husband, James Roy Kinard; a daughter, Patricia "Patsy" Kinard Cannon; and a sister, Veleda J. Aston.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Greer, S.C., where she taught Sunday school and was a member of The Garden Club, past resident of State Dental Assistant Society and was formerly employed as a dental assistant and office manager of Dr. J.B. Lancaster.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James "Buddy" and Lisa Kinard of Athens; four granddaughters, Julie and husband, "J.D." Dalton, Jamie and husband, "Andrew" McCay, and Jennifer Kinard and Kimberly Cannon Merritt; very special friend, Nolan Merritt; nine great-grandchildren, Macy Montgomery, Jackson Montgomery, Alexandra McCay, Trent McCay, Ella Merritt, Walt Merritt, Noah Dalton, Asher Dalton and Jonah Dalton; and nieces, Beth Aston and Jobie Austin.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. View Cemetery in Greer, S.C., with Dottie Bryson officiating.
