Anna married Arthur Walter Beverage, Sr on 22 Sept 1920, Dover-Foxcroft, Me, married by Rev Henry Huse. Arthur was b 1 May 1896, North Haven, the s/o Frank Beverage & Ursula Mary "Mae" Calderwood. He d 8 Aug 1987, New Britain, Ct.

Anna graduated from Colby College in 1919 and was a member of the Tri Delta Society. She was principal of the North Haven High School and later Superintendent of North Haven schools. An accomplished pianist, when silent movies were in vogue, her father-in-law ran a general store across the street from Calderwood Hall. For a movie, people would go to Frank's store to buy popcorn, then go to Calderwood Hall to watch the movie shown by the Crocketts, with Anna playing the piano for effect / mood.

In 1919, Anna taught at North Haven's High School. That is how she met her future husband.

Wedding Announcement: Beverage - Anderson: The beautiful home of Postmaster Bion B Anderson was the scene of an exceptionally pretty wedding on Wednesday, September the 22nd, when his only daughter, Anna Bailey, was united in marriage to Arthur Walter Beverage of North Haven.
Promptly at 11 o'clock the bride party entered the parlor to the strains of Mendelssohn's Wedding March, played by Miss Attalena Atkins of Dexter, and took their places before an attractive arch of asparagus ferns entwined with sweet peas. The impressive double ring service was performed by Rev H F Huse, pastor of the United Baptist church of Dover.
The bride was attended by Miss Jennie Beverage, sister of the groom, and Mr George Beverage, cousin of the groom, was best man. The ring bearer was Master Bion B Anderson, Jr, brother of the bride.
The bride was becomingly gowned in white beaded georgette crepe, with a long veil of tulle and carried a shower bouquet of white roses and sweet peas. The maid of honor was attired in delicate pink crepe-de-chene and carried pink roses.
An informal reception followed the ceremony and a dainty lunch was served to the relatives and friends present.
The home was very attractively decorated, the banister of the stairway down which the bridal party descended, being gracefully draped with asparagus ferns. The color scheme in the dining room was artistically developed with yellow dahlias and ferns in profusion.
Mrs Beverage, one of Dover's popular young ladies, is a graduate of Foxcroft Academy, and of Colby college in the class of 1919, where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Since that time she has been a very successful teacher.
Mr Beverage is a graduate of North Haven High School and of the University of Maine in the class of 1917.
The high esteem in which the young couple are held by their many friends is shown by the vast display of gifts, consisting of money, cut glass, linen and silver.
Among the out-of-town guests present were Mrs Annie B Canney of Bangor, Misses Jennie and Etta Beverage of North Haven, Mrs Linda Carver of Hartland, Mr and Mrs R P Davis of Sebec, Misses Doris Gower of Skowhegan, Agnes Cameron of Canton, Clara Gamage of South Bristol, college friends of the bride, and Miss Attalena Atkins of Dexter.

Arthur and Anna had a dairy farm with the name "Hillside Farm" imprinted on the bottles.
In 1937, Arthur paid the town of North Haven $1.00 for a "License to Peddle".

In 1930 Arthur was paid by the town to help build roads and bridges; for the use of his team and driver, he was paid $108.50 for 15 1/2 days of work @ $7/day.

In the 1930 census, 33-year-old Arthur is a farmer on North Haven. The census cites that he is renting his home which is on a farm. He also owns a radio. He cites that both he and Anna was 24 at the time of their marriage. Residing with him and Anna are their two children, Arthur Jr and Grace, as well as 57-year-old Austin Brown who is working as a farm laborer / hired hand.

Arthur stopped farming in 1942. He became a resident of Plainville, Ct, working at Pratt-Whitney as an air craft engine machinist (during WWII). They summered at the home on North Haven.

Death Certificate: Anna Bailey Beverage died on 8 Dec 1955 at Meriden Hospital in New Haven, Ct at the age of 59 years. Born on 19 July 1896 in Dover-Foxcroft, she was the daughter of Bion Anderson (born Gray, Me) and Grace Bailey (born Dover-Foxcroft, Me). She resided at 42 Hubbard Street in Meriden, Ct where she had been a resident for 15 years. She was the wife of Arthur W Beverage. cause of death: pulmonary heart disease, chronic pulmonale, due to emphysema and ceptic disease of lungs, cystitis, Burial to be on 12 Dec 1955 at Seaview Cemetery, North Haven.

She was born in Dover-Foxcroft the daughter of Grace Bailey and Bion B Anderson on July 19, 1896. She received her education in the local schools there and graduated from Colby College in 1919. That fall she was principal of The North Haven High School. Marrying Arthur W Beverage in August 1920, and making their home in North Haven until 1942, when they moved to Meriden, Conn. Two children were born to them, Arthur W Jr, now of Arlington, Texas, and Grace M (Mrs Paul E Stanley) of Wallingford, Conn.
Mrs Beverage was in the local Post Office for several years, and served on the School Committee of that town. Always a fine neighbor and friend.
Besides her husband and two children, she leaves four grandchildren, Barbara and Ann Beverage of Arlington, Texas; Joanne and Paula Stanley of Wallingford, Conn; brothers John D Anderson, A Wendell Anderson of Portland, and Bion B Anderson Jr of Tacoma, Wash.
Funeral services were held in the North Haven Baptist Church on Monday, Dec 12, with the Rev George R Merriam officiating. Bearers were Hiram Beverage, Albert Beverage, George Beverage, Vernon Beverage, Alton Calderwood and Bernard Mills. Interment was in Sea View Cemetery.
