Father- Harry Mummery
Mother- Lena Anderson

Sister- Helen Adaline Mummery (1915)

Sister- Kathleen Grace Mummery Burnside (1914-2004)
KATHLEEN GRACE BURNSIDE With her family at her side, Grace passed away at Tuxedo Villa on April 19, 2004. Her final gift to her family was a beautiful smile in the last seconds of her life. Just a few months before her passing, on February 19 we toasted her 90th birthday with a glass of sherry. Grace, an immensely generous and kind person was well named. She was loved by all who met her from her early years in Brandon, MB where she was active in sports and a fine student, to her final years at Tuxedo Villa where she delighted many with her laughter and good humour. Beloved wife of the late Laurie Burnside, Grace will be lovingly remembered by her children, Elaine (Garry) and Jim (Gail) granddaughter Lauren; sisters, Pat and Enid; and brothers, Jim and Bill. Harry Mummery and Lena Anderson had a large family of eleven children and Grace was one of them, born on February 11, 1914. Her love of all sports but especially hockey and football was in part due to the strong influence of her father Harry who played defense on Stanley Cup winning teams. Grace lived in Brandon until she met and married Laurie and moved to Winnipeg. Her years were spent creating a beautiful home and supporting Laurie in the drugstore, Burnside Drugs, which was central to both their lives. She was active in the community, playing bridge with neighbours, bowling and participating in the Womans Auxiliary of the Manitoba Pharmacists Association. Grace had a strong artistic sense and took great pleasure from her art lessons and the paintings she worked on. Sports remained important throughout her life, she and Laurie were season ticket holders with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and attended several Grey Cups. She loved swimming at the cottage at Big Whiteshell Lake. The family would like to thank the staff of Tuxedo Villa for their respectful and compassionate treatment of our precious mother. We will always be grateful for the loving care of her companion Vida Venzon who treated Grace like her own mother. Thank you Vida. A service will be held at Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor Ave. on Friday, April 23 at 1:00 p.m.
