Born to Ellis and Temelius Morris Colbert, Juanita was one of 2 daughters who survived the flu epidemic, which swept through the U.S. after WWI.
After loosing her mother in 1921, Juanita went to various Indian boarding schools, such as Tushkahoma Boarding School, and Wheelock Academy, in Millerton, Oklahoma.
After her marriage to Oren (Doc) Hicks a child was born. Her name was Jean and she now resides in Benton Arkansas. They also adopted a son, Lee who now resides in Stillwater, Okla.
Juanita passed away at the age of 83, with her family at her bedside. SHE IS GREATLY MISSED!
