===============================================================
Naomi Fay Martin was born March 17, 1923 Toccoa, Stephens County, Georgia, the daughter of Zack Martin 1888-1956 and Retha Jane Acree 1892-1975. Her late husband was Robert Wyatt Graves Jr 1922-1969, whose father Robert Wyatt Graves Sr. owned the Toccoa Record. Aunt Fay, the sister of my father Wallace Ford Martin 1916-1985, is pictured with her children Laura Ann and Robert Wyatt Graves III, in a picture taken around 1963. Her father Zack Martin ran Martin and Green Dry Goods which later became Martin Lumber Company. She graduated from Toccoa High School then the Florida Women's College, later known as Florida State University.

Fay stood on the stage in Atlanta with FDR, thanks to her father Zack Martin, and who met JFK and LBJ, on a whistle stop tour through Toccoa, thanks to Orville Schaefer.

The memorial service for Aunt Fay will be next Saturday at 11 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Toccoa, a day before the Kesler reunion at Prospect Methodist. We welcome all cousins and friends. Aunt Fay was one of the last grandchildren of Derrell Andrew Martin and Julia Ann Kesler of Prospect Methodist Church, as well as James Knox Acree and Nancy Catherine Banks of the nearby Tate's Creek Baptist Church at Currahee Mountain. Her parents Zack Martin and Retha Acree also had Sgt. Clyde Sidney Martin 1920-1944, who died in Europe in World War II and is buried in the U.S. Airmen's Cemetery in Cambridge, England in a place of honor. They also had Dr. Daniel Allen Martin, MD 1917-1991, graduate of Emory Medical School and veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II, who practiced as a surgeon in Lawrenceville. They also had Wallace Ford Martin 1916-1985, who founded Martin Lumber Company, with his father Zack Martin, and built many subdivisions in Toccoa such as Pine Valley, Meadowbrook, Indian Village, Clearview, Hickory Circle, Poplar Street and Forrest Hills, as well as the Toccoa Plaza Shopping Center, now Foothills.

Fay was known to her friends as an adventurer, for her great sense of humor and compassion for all humanity. Even later in life, she loved to tour cemeteries, trace ancestry and even took a trip to the Nantahala River in North Carolina with her nephew and his children in 2010. Her smile, charm and intelligence allowed her to go on to college after high school, then helped her to become involved in businesses. Privately she said her goal in life was to have been a lawyer, but she stood out as a woman ahead of her time.
